Nominee: Jeff Y.

June 2000 my husbands life changed forever, he was on his way home from work when he was hit head on. His right leg was broke in 2 places and his left heal bone was crushed. After his surgury he couldnt put any weight on either leg, so he couldnt walk or even go to work. We were the parents of a 3 year old and a 6 week old we didnt know what to do, he was the only one that worked to support the family. I went and got a job and he became a stay at home dad. He had a kitchen chair that had wheels on it and thats how he got around to get the baby out of the bed and to make bottles and lunch for himself and the 3 year old. His doctor told him he would be off work for 12 months or longer and we knew financially he couldnt be off that long. He worked hard on his therapy and pushed through the pain of standing up so when he went to the doctor he was released to go back to work around 7 months. He went back to his job for about a month and got laid off, a week later he had another job. He hated this job and his foot hurt so bad that when he got home he could hardly walk, but he pressed on because he knew he had a family to support. 10 years later he still has problems with his foot, it wont ever be the same, he cant bend it, cant find good shoes and when we do they last about 6 months. His foot is swollen all the time and he is in constant pain but you will never hear him complain because he knows it wont do any good. When he is in so much pain I tell him to take a day off from work but he wont because he cant afford to miss a day. I am very proud to call him my husband.
