So little time
Nominee: Amy S.
Amy spends her days taking care of her 3 daughters and her terminally ill husband of 4 years. In October of 2009 Amy lost her job as a result of her company relocating to another state. Without the possibility of moving to continue in her occupation she has had to rely on unemployment benefits and the income they receive from her husbands social security. At 33 years of age one could hardly expect to become a widow with young children and no job in sight.
Amy has volunteered for many years with Turning Point, a domestic violence shelter in the Detroit metro area. She was nominated for volunteer of the year, several years ago for her constant dedication. Although volunteering has had to be put on hold for the time being to care for her husband. She continues to keep the lines of communication open to the agency.
Dedication doesn’t stop for the rest of the family. She has made it possible that everyone is included in her daily life with emails at regular intervals. With her love and support she has made the impossible situation more bearable for all involved. To her no mountains are too tall for her to be superwoman!
