BLUE COLLAR/KNIGHTS HONOR

Nominee: David H.

Like many of the people in stories here David is a hard worker, family man, and pretty much all around good guy.  What makes him different is how without a word he inspires others to be better by his example of living with total honor and integrity in all he does.  REGARDLESS of what he’s doing he gives 100 percent of himself to that endeavor.  Once he gives his “WORD” it is done and not revocable.  Words are not said EVER lightly by him, and he thinks over every obligation before giving that word.  It works the same whether it’s his family or his job.  In my opinion he is like the tales of the knights of old who believed in death before dishonor.
From his co-workers I’ve learned that he is referred to as “MR INTEGRITY”, or “Mr. Knowledge”.  He never seeks to promote himself, claim idea’s or good work as his own, or draw attention to himself in anyway.  In his eyes it’s a team effort and he is just a part of that team.  He educates himself over and beyond about his work because he believes his employers deserve his best, and part of his best is to be knowledgeable about his work.
He doesn’t ride the clock or slack off at work because that would be “theft” because he would be stealing time/ money from his employers.  Whether he’s rewarded or not isn’t important, it’s that HE KNOWS he did his part to the best of his ability.
He once explained that he could never cheat on his wife, not because he loves her. which he freely proclaims, but because he gave his word to honor and protect her for the rest of his life.  That protection extends to their children and 16 grandchildren.  He will never retire, according to him, because part of his job as family patriarch is to be stable in all areas of his life including financial.
It’s not that he is a perfect, he does make mistakes, and when he does his wife laughingly states “THANK GOD it’s the only way I know he is human”.
He is getting older now and his 50th birthday is approaching.  What a gift it would be for this self proclaimed “everyday common blue collar” man to be acknowledged for living a “life of excellence” by giving him a well deserved raise. THINK what this world would be like if our world leaders would require their own character to be that of this man who just wants to lay his head down at night and know that he’s done his best!
