"A dream is a wish your heart makes..."
Nominee: Kimberly S.
This story is about my daughter, Kimberly. She is a first year Special Education Inclusions Teacher for two schools. She also is currently Miss Maine International 2010.In July; she will be competing for the title of Miss International 2010. Part of vying for the title of Miss International 2010 includes promoting her platform which is “Inclusion, not Exclusion”, providing support and advocacy through teaching and guidance. As a teacher of students with moderate to severe disabilities, she is an ongoing advocate for families around the state of Maine and works alongside teachers and support staff to include all students in the regular education setting. Kimberly also has been raising funds for Autism Speaks throughout the year. Kimberly should get a raise so that she can continue to promote her platform across the state of Maine and through the extra funding; she will then be able to promote it nationally. Kimberly hopes to become a national advocate for Autism Speaks and be able to go in schools and teach educators about Inclusion, not Exclusion and how to implement it.
