America Deserves A Raise Winners
Joan Dalton won a $40,000 raise by giving a second chance to two groups that have few champions: incarcerated youth and unwanted dogs. Her non-profit program asks inmates at a youth correctional facility to train and groom shelter dogs facing euthanasia. The dogs find loving homes and the youth learn from groomers and other professionals how to run a business and work as part of a team. Joan’s raise will help keep this innovative program running.
Violeta Singson won a $5,000 bonus by running a free medical clinic out of her office that has treated 2,200 patients more than 4,000 times. These clinics provide needed treatment and medications at no cost to individuals who would otherwise require costly emergency room care. Violeta’s bonus will support her invaluable efforts just when they are most needed.
